Terms of Service

Last updated 12 August 2026

These terms govern your use of NexusNest, a platform that connects students at Zambian universities with verified off-campus accommodation. By creating an account you agree to them.

1. Who we are and what we do

NexusNest is a booking platform. We list rooms offered by independent landlords, verify listings before they go live, and process refundable deposits by mobile money.

We are not a landlord and we do not own the properties. The tenancy agreement is between you and the landlord. We facilitate discovery, booking and the deposit. We are not a party to your lease.

2. Eligibility and accounts

  • You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and enter a tenancy. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must contract on your behalf.
  • Student accounts require a valid campus affiliation. Landlord accounts require accurate identity and property details.
  • You must give accurate information, including your National Registration Card (NRC) number where requested. One person may hold only one account: email addresses, phone numbers and NRC numbers must be unique across the platform.
  • You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity under your account.

3. Bookings and deposits

  • A booking is confirmed only once your deposit payment has been received and confirmed by us. Selecting a room does not reserve it.
  • Deposits are paid by MTN MoMo or Airtel Money. The amount shown at checkout is set by the landlord and resolved server-side. We never accept an amount supplied by your device.
  • Deposits are refundable if the landlord cancels, if the room is materially not as described, or if the listing is removed for a compliance breach before you move in.
  • If you cancel, refund eligibility depends on the landlord's stated cancellation terms on the listing and how close to the move-in date you cancel.
  • If the mobile money gateway is unavailable, we may hold your booking in a manual-payment state so you do not lose the room. Your booking is confirmed once we verify that payment.

4. Landlord obligations

  • List only property you are legally entitled to let, and keep pricing, availability, photos and location accurate and current.
  • Photos must be of the actual property. Misrepresenting a room is grounds for immediate removal.
  • Honour confirmed bookings. Repeated cancellations may result in suspension and withheld payouts.
  • Comply with Zambian tenancy, health and safety law, and with any university requirements that apply to accredited off-campus housing.
  • Payouts are released according to the schedule shown in your landlord dashboard, after the student has moved in and any dispute window has passed.

5. Reviews and conduct

  • Reviews must reflect a genuine stay. Fake, incentivised or retaliatory reviews will be removed.
  • Do not post unlawful, harassing, discriminatory or misleading content, and do not attempt to move a booking off-platform to avoid deposit protection.
  • We may remove content or suspend accounts that breach these terms.

6. Student safety and university compliance

Where a university requires it, we share a limited placement roster with the designated off-campus official so students can be reached in an emergency. That roster contains a student's name, campus, property address, campus proximity, move-in date and an emergency contact number. It never contains NRC numbers, payment references or deposit amounts. See the Privacy Policy for detail.

In an emergency, contact Mr Nkolola Julius (Off-Campus Minister · KNU) on +260 779 535 120, or the Zambia Police on 991.

7. Our role and limits of liability

We verify listings in good faith, but we do not guarantee the condition, legality or suitability of any property, nor the conduct of any landlord or student. You are responsible for inspecting a property and satisfying yourself before you commit.

To the extent permitted by Zambian law, our liability arising from your use of the platform is limited to the deposit amount you paid through NexusNest for the booking in question. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

8. Suspension and account deletion

You may delete your account at any time from your account settings. Deleting your account removes your profile and personal details; we retain booking and payment records where we are legally required to, as described in the Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, is used fraudulently, or puts other users at risk.

9. Changes and governing law

We may update these terms. Material changes will be notified in the app or by email before they take effect, and the “last updated” date above will change.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Zambia, and the Zambian courts have jurisdiction over any dispute.
